Hillstock workers!!

Attention!!!

We are in need of strong and abled bodies to move tables and equipment from the church to GAR Park and back again to the church during the HILLSTOCK WEEKEND, June 28-30!

Here's the catch...ONLY THOSE UNDER AGE 50 ARE PERMITTED TO DO THIS, unless you are in real good shape, have no health problems, and you willingly involve yourself to do so!

Seriously! We are looking for the TIMOTHY’S and TIMOTHY-ETTES of NLC!  We know you are out there! Please contact Valerie Horgan 781-424-7707, Esther Larios 857-207-2124, or Juanita Rivera  9787-601-6840 to sign up. Call this week! We need to know that our Timothy’s and Timothy-ettes are taking ownership of this years' event. We repeat, we need to know that our Timothy’s and Timothy-ettes are taking ownership of this years' event!!

Duties include folding up and taking plastic tables from downstairs of church and loading them on a truck, as well as other pieces of equipment deemed necessary by the Hillstock Committee on Friday afternoon, June 28, and unloading the truck at GAR Park early Saturday morning June 29, approximately 8am and setting up the tables there. Then, reversing the process on Saturday at the close of Hillstock at 4pm, and unloading the truck either on Saturday evening or Sunday morning before church begins.

Many of our workers have paid their dues over many years in working, serving, overextending, going the extra mile, etc, etc, etc to make a church event, an outreach, a ministry succeed. Some of these dear saints simply need a break! To us, it's time to pass the baton!!

TIMOTHY’S arise!! TIMOTHY-ETTES arise!!

Hillstock 2019 is Hillsock number 10!! Let's really make it special by including EVERYONE....young and old, and new and longtime attendees. ALL ARE WELCOME TO GET INVOLVED.

HILSTOCK MEETINGS each Tuesday at 7pm.

"FREE INDEED” John 8:36

PS. Timothy’s and Timothy-ettes are younger Christian people called upon by the leadership of the church do a great work for the Kingdom of God. "I have no one else like him, who will show genuine concern for your welfare. For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel." Philippians 2:20-22

Community Prayer

Calling Christians!

There are many effective ministries throughout Haverhill. Included are those involved in the various street ministries, gang related ministries, and ministries to the homeless in our area. It would be a major accomplishment if the leaders and workers of these ministries, along with area pastors and church leaders, would unite in a time of prayer each month. This is an appeal to all Christians, all ministers, all Christian workers, all proponents of the Gospel, and proponents of revival, to take an hour of your time this Thursday, and actually join others of like faith and purpose and call upon the Name of the Lord. No coffee, norefreshments, no preaching and no designated time of fellowship.

Just prayer.

Will YOU join us?

UNITED NIGHT OF PRAYER

Date: Thursday Feb 21, 7-8pm

Location: New Life Christian Assembly of God
966 Main St Haverhill, Ma

"If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land."  2 Chronicles 7:14

Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear NLC!

Greetings in the wonderful and powerful Name of All Names...JESUS!  We write to you today to wish each of you a most Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving. It is true that we must be thankful always, but there's something so very special about this season in America which has been set aside to give thanks to the ONE that has blessed us so abundantly. We join millions of people in doing so, especially those within the living Body of Christ, as we narrow down our thanks to the one true Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Scripture is replete with admonitions to give thanks to Almighty God, too many to mention, but a few quickly come to mind:

2 Chronicles 5:13 "The trumpeters and singers performed together in unison to praise and give thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments, they raised their voices and praised the Lord with these words: 'He is good! His faithful love endures forever!' At that moment a thick cloud filled the Temple of the Lord.
"

Psalm 9:1 "I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done."

Psalm 28:7 "The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving."

Colossians 3:15 "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful."

Colossians 3:16-17  "Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father."

1 Thessalonians 5:18 "Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus"

Hebrews 12:28-29 "Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a devouring fire."

As you gather around your table this Thanksgivng Day, perhaps the Lord will tap on your shoulder and nudge you to be the one that will in some significant way, bring the conversation around to Him...His goodness, His grace, His provision, His sovereignty. Let Him use you to bring Him to the forefront.

We send our love and thanks to God...for you. YOU are a special part of the Body of Christ here in New England, and  we embrace you and pray God's best over you and your loved ones. We are very grateful that you are a part of the Body of Christ here at NLC.

Have a great day...and be thankful!

WithThankful Hearts,

Pastor Rick and Pamela

Nov 5, 2018 Face Book Post

“There’s always this nagging feeling for roots, for connection. It’s inborn I believe. I go back to my childhood memories, to people and to places. And, it’s all good. Yet, it goes deeper, “what could have been” or “what could have been better, or different?” Glad to feel a peace that all my longings for connectedness and roots are satisfied through my relationship with Jesus Christ. Actually, these feelings are a longing for things that will only be realized once I’m on “the other side.” Life here is a shadow of what will come. In the meantime I am so thankful for my life experiences w many family members; friends, old and new; and such diverse places where I’ve lived. God is good; grateful He loves me and keeps me! “

NLC Email March 9, 2018

Dear NLC,

Greetings in Jesus' Name! In case you haven't heard, or have not been affected, Haverhill has been hit very hard by the recent winter storm, named "Quinn." Co-incidentally, this is Pamela's maiden name! In any case, our area has no power. As such, Thursdays' meetings and services were canceled, as will be Saturdays' Mens Breakfast and Worship Team rehearsal. We are awaiting word as to the progress of repairing the damage before determining what to do about Sunday, although we are leaning on opening the church regardless. We will keep you notified via email and Facebook.

If there are any needs that we can possible help with, please do let us know. Personally, the parsonage and rental property next door (Amendola's and Johnson's) have limited electricity via generators. This seems to be working ok, as we utilize them intermittently, conserving the gas. If anyone is in desperate conditions, please contact us.  Although we also are limited in resources, we may be able to help in some way.

One thing is for sure, we still have the Power of the Holy Spirit!! Please stay strong in spirit during this time. Now is the time to trust Jesus and to be a light of hope to our families, friends and neighbors. Please do pray for our community...for all resources to be restored, but more importantly, for hearts to turn to Jesus.

God bless you! Right now we figured out how to use our "hotspot" on the iphone to connect the laptop to the internet.  Seems to be working!

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10

Stay tuned!!

Precious Blood

NLC email, 2/8/18

Hi NLC!

Last Sunday was a real special day in the House of the Lord. So appreciative of all that made the effort to be there, and to pursue the Lord during worship, during prayer, and during the preaching of the Word.

I wanted to take a moment to share a few thoughts with you that were not included in the outline presented on the screen on Sunday. I will conclude with the final three points of the sermon,

What The Precious Blood of Jesus Does For Us Today.

First... Many classic hymns proclaim the great truths of the Blood of Jesus:

There Is Power In The Blood, Nothing But The Blood, Are You Washed In The Blood, There Is A Fountain Filled With Blood, The Blood Shall never Loose It's Power, The OId Rugged Cross, At The Cross. (do you know them??)

Second...What the Bible tells us  about the Blood of Jesus:

~Matthew 27:4... it is innocent

~1 John 1:7... it is cleansing

~Revelation 12:11... it is conquering

~1 Peter 1:19...it is precious!

Third...The Bible tells us the Blood of Jesus is the basis for:

~our reconciliation with God...Ephesians 2:13

~our redemption...Romans 3:24

~our justification...Romans 5:9

~our sanctification...Hebrews 10:29

~our communion with the Lord...Matthew 26:26-29

~our victory...Revelation 12:11

~our eternal life..John 6:53

These are wonderful scriptures that will most definitely minister to your spirit as you ponder and meditate upon them. Let them become food for your soul!!

What The Precious Blood of Jesus Does For Us Today..the three major points of the sermon:

1. The Blood of Jesus Empowers Us!

Empowers us to defeat Satan!

~Revelation 12:11a "And they overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony..."

~Romans 6:6 "our old man was crucified with Him (Jesus) that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin"

2. The Blood of Jesus Purges Us!

Purges us from sin, guilt, and the "old man"

~Hebrews 11:14 "how much more shall the Blood of Jesus Christ..cleanse (purge) your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"

~1 Corinthians 6:11 (paraphrase) "You...who were lost and entrenched in sin and despair; you...who were sexually deviant and ungodly; you...who were drunkards, revilers, extortioners, etc...were washed, were sanctified, were justified in the Name of the Lord Jesus (by His blood!) and by the Spirit of our God"

~1 John 1:7 "But if we walk in the Light as He is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin."

3. The Blood of Jesus Frees Us!

Freed, bought, and delivered, to be who we are supposed to be in Christ!

~Acts 20:28 (re the church of God) "...which He purchased with His own blood"

~Romans 5:8 "while still sinners, Christ died for us"

~John 3:16-17 "God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whosoever would believe in would not perish but would have everlasting life. For the Son of God did not come into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him, might be saved."

~1 Timothy/Mark 10:45 Jesus is "a ransom" for us

Precious Blood

Isaiah 53:12b "And He was numbered with the trangressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."

Enjoy your power, your purging and cleansing, and your freedom found only as you walk with Jesus! He most assuredly has good things in store for you. Looking forward to a great month as we run after the Lord. Come to church ready to bless Him, bless someone else, and receive a special touch from the Holy Spirit. Remember, Sunday morning services begin on Saturday night, as we prepare our hearts for the first day of the week!

See YOU then!

All For Jesus,

Pastor Rick

"Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God. It cost God plenty to get you out of that dead-end, empty-headed life you grew up in. He paid with Christ’s sacred blood, you know. He died like an unblemished, sacrificial lamb. And this was no afterthought. Even though it has only lately—at the end of the ages—become public knowledge, God always knew he was going to do this for you. It’s because of this sacrificed Messiah, whom God then raised from the dead and glorified, that you trust God, that you know you have a future in God." 1 Peter 1:18-19 The Message

Snow!

NLC Email 1/4/18

Dear NLC,

Wow...is it snowing out there! Over a foot expected before it ends later tonight. Praying the Lord's blessing and protection over all as we work our way through to Sunday. Please let us know if we can be of any help during this time.

Below is our favorite snow song, entitled "Winter Snow" by Audrey Assad. Give a listen, and reflect on Jesus' coming in such an unassuming way, with such a great task a head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpHiAmL8-b0&feature=youtu.be

Stay safe, and don't take any unnecessary risks in this cold and snowy weather! Perhaps it is just a golden opportunity for each of us to be still, to listen to the Lord, to think and to be thankful. That's where I'm headed....to a place of serenity. As I look out my window, I see a lot of snow, and very few cars on Main St ! That, in and of itself, is very peaceful to me!

God bless you all...

In Jesus' love,

Pastor Rick and Pamela

"Come now, let us argue this out," says the Lord. "No matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can remove it. I can make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you as white as wool." Isaiah 1:18 NLT

Christmas Night

NLC Email Dec 25, 2017

Dear NLC,

Greetings to you all on this beautiful New England Christmas Evening! What a wonderful Christmas Eve Service we had last night! Thank you to all that came, and to all that participated to make this years' service so extra special. And, what a wonderful snowy white Christmas we had this morning! God is good, and God is speaking to us today in so many wonderful ways. I believe He was speaking to us this morning...

Isaiah 1:8 tells us, "'Come now, let's settle this,' says the Lord. 'Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.'"Such a depth of truth, especially in light of the Christmas Story. Each of us are so very guilty of "sins like scarlet." We are in such drastic need of a real and serious Savior. In His birth, Jesus proclaims a way for mankind to be at peace with God. This morning's snowfall reminds us of just how clean and pure we have been made through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Thank you, "Immanuel-God with us!" Matthew 1:23

Psalm 51:7 tells us, "Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me and I will be whiter than snow." If Jesus was never born, there would have been no sacrifice available that would have fulfilled the need of our redemption. He alone owns the power, the authority, the ability to "purify" and "wash" us from our sins and our sinful nature. But in obedience, and sacrificially, He came just as the prophets said He would! And His atoning work, some thirty-three years after His birth, is certainly enough to make us "whiter than snow!" As I walked across the churchyard this morning, making fresh tracks in the newly fallen snow, I was reminded that with Jesus, "all things have become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17 Ours sins are covered over by His precious blood. Amen!

Revelation 1:14 tells us, "His head and His hair were white like wool, as white as snow. His eyes were like flames of fire."  Wow! That sweet little baby in the manger in Bethlehem grew up, strong and steady, and became a Man, a Man without sin, that He might become sin for us, and crucify that sin on the Cross! 2 Corinthians 2:21. Yes, that sweet baby boy fulfilled His mission to offer Himself as an acceptable ransom for our sins. Mark 10:45, 1 Timothy 2:5-6. God then, "raised Him from the grave" Acts 2:24,32 and now He sits in victory "at the right hand of God" Mark 16:19. And He will come again to judge "both the living and the dead" 2 Timothy 4:1. Can you imagine? This Christ Child, now in all His glory, settling all accounts? Restoring Divine order? Exercising His right as Judge of the world?? Acts 10:42. Yes, even this truth is displayed in the beauty and ferocity of a snowstorm! "His head, His hair, His eyes...as white as snow, like flames of fire!"

Oh, Merry, Merry Christmas to one and all! May the deep reality of the event settle upon our hearts and souls this day and season as never, ever before! How we need a Holy Spirit reminder of the spiritual and eternal implications of Jesus' Birth, Life, Death, Resurrection, Ascension, and soon Coming Again!

                                                                 Philippians 2:6-11

"Though he was God,

he did not think of equality with God

as something to cling to.

Instead, he gave up his divine privileges;

he took the humble position of a slave

and was born as a human being.

When he appeared in human form,

he humbled himself in obedience to God

and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

Therefore, God elevated him

to the place of highest honor

and gave him the name

above all other names,

that at the name of Jesus

every knee should bow,

in heaven and on earth

and under the earth,

and every tongue confess

that Jesus Christ is Lord,

to the glory of God the Father."

May the Lord bless you, your loved ones, and family members during this special time. Please know that you are loved by a wonderful, caring, omnipotent Lord who constantly has you on His mind. You are also loved by your Pastor, Pastor's wife, and Pastor's family so very, very much. Behind Jesus, you remain our greatest joy and our greatest reward!  1 Thessolonians 2:19

Merry Christmas NLC email

Church email 12/14/17

Dear NLC!

Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones! Jesus' birth was, is, and must always be a focal point of our faith and celebrations. Jesus is born! Wow...heaven and earth still celebrate this wondrous event, and we are so glad that you are a part of the celebration!

This Sunday, December 17, we celebrate this special event at NLC with a very unique and creative Christmas Presentation entitled, "The Brightest Night."  Directed by our worship leader, Stacie Amendola-Johnson, and featuring many of the NLC kids (singing, dancing, and providing dialogue,) and several NLC adults (singing special songs,) this promises to be a wonderful proclamation of such great news!

Please make plans to join us! One service only this week, starting promptly at 10:45am. Invite a relative and loved one that needs to discover the reality of Christmas, and invite a friend, co-worker, or classmate that you know would benefit from being in the Lord's House this week.

The angels said it best, "For there is born unto you this day in the City of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord" Luke 2:11. Help us proclaim this truth to our community by (1) being here, (2) telling others about it, and bringing someone with you, (3) keeping this special day and season in much prayer for us to highlight the event with the expectation others will accept this Christ child, and still others will be encouraged in their faith.

You may remember that I often say on Sunday mornings, "we have the most beautiful kids in Haverhill attending our church!" Well, it is true!! Thank you parents and guardians for faithfully bringing these precious lambs to the House of the Lord. Thank you Pamela Amendola for overseeing this most important ministry. Thank you adult Kids Workers that faithfully pour into their innocent lives each week. Thank you all that support Kids Ministries with your prayers and with your service.

Looking forward to seeing YOU at this weeks' special morning service, "The Brightest Night." Remember, one service only at 10:45. Fasten your seat belt...it's gonna be a great day!

All For Jesus,

Pastor Rick

"That night, in a field near Bethlehem,

there were shepherds watching over their flocks.

Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared

in radiant splendor before them,

lighting up the field

with the blazing glory of God,

and the shepherds were terrified!

But the angel reassured them, saying,

“Don’t be afraid.

For I have come to bring you good news,

the most joyous news the world has ever heard!

And it is for everyone everywhere!

For today in Bethlehem a rescuer was born for you.

He is the Lord Yahweh, the Messiah.

You will recognize him by this miracle sign:

You will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth

and lying in a feeding trough!
