Haverhill Christmas Parade 2022
Special thanks: Stacie and Dan for float design and decoration; Dan Johnson building the float (Steve Swanson and Jack Johnson helped); Ava Johnson for the animal cut-out designs and painting (Ella painted too); Roseanne Bartlett for decorating; James and Danika Carter, video and sound system; Michael McKeown, donating and driving truck and trailer; all at New Life that donated 3,000 pieces of candy (all distributed!!); Aaron Evans who played Joseph and Livia Tomorason who played Mary; and everyone that marched for Jesus!
Special prayer: 2,000 invites (2,000!!) to New Life Services, including Thanksgiving and Christmas Services were directly placed in the hands of people viewing the parade as they lined up on the street. Pray that the Lord will use this contact to speak to peoples' hearts, encourage them to seek God, and visit our church! Pray the Holy Spirit will work powerfully in the hearts of people throughout our community during this Christmas Season!

that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Holidays!
/Greetings Everyone!
The Holiday Season is upon us as we get ready for the big Thanksgiving Day Parade in downtown Haverhill, Sunday, November 20, 1PM! All are welcome to cheer us on from the street as we march from Bradford, over the bridge, to the Haverhill Police Department. Please refer to the “events” page for all the details of the 2022 Holiday Season at New Life. Remember, whatever we do, let’s make sure to keep JESUS in the middle of all the events and festivities as never before! John 3:16 is so, so appropriate as we ponder the beauty of the season: “For God so loved the world that He gave His begotten Son, that who-so-ever would believe in Him would not perish, but would have everlasting life”. Hope to see YOU during the ‘22 Holidays at New Life. Call, email, or stop by if we can be of any help.
God bless you!
All For Jesus,
Pastor Rick
TY: Pastor's Appreciation day!
/From New Life Haverhill FB page, October 27, 2022:
A NOTE FROM THE PASTOR:
A special "THANK YOU" to all that honored Pamela and me over the Pastor's Appreciation weekend! The notes, cards, gifts are very greatly appreciated. These displays and words of affection and appreciation go a long way in a pastors heart and remain symbolic of all that a pastor really desires in a church. And that is, "relationship."
This carries over to the leaders in a given church too. Doers are obviously very important. People with special giftings are very important. And, creative souls are very important. And all are welcome and encouraged to come and discover and unleash their talents for the Lord and His people! But what makes it work in a congregational setting is "relationship".
All those elements without relationship with the pastor spells chaos and most likely, sooner or later, hurt feelings.
Speaking respectfully to and having genuine love for one another, sharing ideas before implementing them, feeling comfortable with one another to say yes or no, not walking on proverbial eggshells in fear of upsetting someone, all contribute to the making of a great church.
Pamela and I are trusting the Lord for great things as this year of 2022 gently winds down and the New Year of 2023 (can you believe that??) is quickly forming on the horizon.
To all whom we pastor, know that WE APPRECIATE YOU! To others that are reading this and have your own pastors, make sure you bless them with your respect and kindness and camaraderie and words of affirmation. To anyone that does not have a pastor, you should really think about finding one! They are, after-all, a gift from Jesus to His church.
See Ephesians 4:11-12.
Let's move forward in our service to the King of all Kings, the Lord Jesus Christ. Ultimately, it is all about Him and following His word. Guaranteed, many dear souls that have not yet heard the gospel weigh in the balance.
-Pastor Rick
June-July 2022!
/(from church email, 6/14/22)
Greetings New Life!
Praise Jesus for a wonderful day last Sunday! We reached heaven during worship and prayer; the Word shared by Stacie Amendola-Johnson was a word from the Lord to each of us; afterward, the young adult cook-out was a blessing to all; and the Sunday Evening Livestream prayer was effective in bringing all of our needs before the Throne of God. He is good and He is worthy of all our praise and thanks!
Looking ahead, there are three upcoming dates that must be highlighted on our calendars. They are Sunday, June 19; Sunday, June 26; and Sunday, July 10. Here are the details:
Sunday, June 19, 10AM: Father's Day!
All dad's are encouraged to be in attendance as we recognize them, pray for them, and bless them with a special gift. Invite your dad, or others in your lives that are dad's. Ultimately, we will honor the Father of us all-our Heavenly Father, Almighty God!
Sunday, June 26, 10AM:
(1) after our time of worship and prayer, Rev Doug Gregan of New Brother's Fellowship, will be sharing the Word. NBF is a powerful ministry that ministers to the incarcerated and their families and continues to do so upon their release. There are several NBF ministry locations throughout Essex County. Spread the word and invite a friend or a family member that needs to know what is happening "behind the wall" in Massachusetts.
(2) That afternoon, we will be having "Pizza With the Pastor" at 4-5:30PM in the Cafe Room. This fellowship time is designed to become acquainted with new people to the church but all are certainly welcome to attend. Kids are welcome! Please let us know of your intentions so we can make sure we'll have enough pizza!
(3) That evening, Sunday Night at 6pm, we will be hosting a special worship/prayer night in the sanctuary with the New Life Worship Team. All are welcome to attend in person; the livestream will also be available as usual. Make plans now to attend the first Sunday Night service in over two years due to covid and subsequent hindrances! (We will return to Livestream only the following week).
Sunday, July 10, 10AM:
(1) The New England Adult and Teen Challenge Choir from Brockton, MA will be ministering at New Life on this special day! Please spread the word to all that need to know there is help available for the addicted, the downcast, the hurting and the troubled. Invite someone to come with you that needs to hear GOOD NEWS! Singing, testimonies, and the Word will be shared.
(2) Following the service, we will be hosting an all church cook-out for the choir on the church grounds. All of New Life is invited to attend and fellowship together, including with those in the program. This promises to be a glorious day!
Additionally, please join us as you are able for the regularly scheduled New Life events each week: "in house prayer" Monday's at 6:30pm; the Tuesday and Thursday Talk Livestreams, 12-12:30PM; and the Wednesday Night In The Word Bible Study Livestream at 7-8PM. The Wednesday Noon-Zoom study will be taking a break for the summer. Please go to Facebook and Youtube for special announcements and videos of all of our services. Search: "New Life Haverhill". Our church website has additional information: http://www.newlifechristianag.com.
Have a glorious week in Jesus! Let us know if we can be of any help to you. Looking forward to seeing you soon at these wonderful events. Remember, all this is for the glory of God to be revealed and for each of us to stay "plugged in" to Jesus and to the church. Let's press in while we are able!

Following is this week's e-letter to the church. Please re-read!!
Hi New Life!
God is definitely good! Remember the plan to either be in church or on-line each Sunday morning till the end of the year? Well, we are off to a great start! We are very thankful for the nearly one hundred and forty people that were involved in Sunday's service! Oh God was in the house! Please spread the word and invite others to join you as we proceed to the end of the year.
Remember, as Daniel "purposed in his heart" not to defile his body with the foreign kings delicacies (Dan 1:8), we too must make tough decisions that will honor the Lord. So, now there are nine Sunday's left in 2021. Can we all "decide" to make church a high priority till December 26, the last Sunday of '21? Come on, we must! And, we can! Blessings follow as we put God first. See Matthew 6:33!
And, $295 was raised for Mission's last Sunday via the donations received for the New Life t-shirts and hoodies! Thank you taking advantage of this opportunity. There are still items left, so come prepared this Sunday to receive your merchandise. Please be aware, we will be ordering more New Life hoodies soon. We will keep you posted on that.
This Sunday is October 31. The world will be celebrating Halloween. We, however, will be celebrating the Lord Jesus Christ, His atoning work on Calvary and His glorious Resurrection from the dead! This Sunday, as we thwart the works of the devil and remind principalities and powers of darkness that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD, we will be partaking of Communion. Please come ready to proclaim Jesus as Lord over your lives, over your homes, over your children and over your finances. Remember 1 John 4:4, "greater is He that is in you (Jesus) than he that is in the world (the devil)".
These are exciting days indeed! God is doing a new thing at New Life. Make plans now to be here and if possible bring someone with you.
All For Jesus,
Pastor Rick and Pamela

As Daniel Did
/CHURCH EMAIL, OCT 19, 2021
HI NEW LIFE!!
As said on Sunday Morning, October 17 at second service, Daniel "purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the kings delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank" Daniel 1:8. In like fashion, we are encouraging EVERYONE to "purpose in your hearts" to make every effort possible to attend church in person for the last ten Sunday's of 2021. That would be this Sunday, October 24 until December 26.
Can you believe there are only ten Sundays left in 2021? What a great way to end the year...by GOING TO CHURCH!! And, if it is literally impossible for you to attend church in person, due to health, work, or other conflicts, we are asking you to "purpose in your heart" to attend services on Facebook Livestream for these remaining Sunday's.
What we've learned so far in our Wednesday Night In The Word Bible Study is that Daniel was absolutely determined not to be influenced by the pagan world of his new surroundings in Babylon. The king wanted to steal Daniel's identity by giving him a new language, new literature, new food and drink and even a new name! But Daniel knew his God and knew his Godly roots. He was not deterred from serving the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in this new ungodly place. He was determined not to loose his identity! And, by the way, he was a young person at the time!
Can we not do the same? Ten Sundays devoted to God. No interruptions, no conflicts, no sleeping in, no excuses! Jesus said it best in Matthew 6:33 "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these other things will be added to you." It is a matter of setting priorities and making the right decisions. (Services are recorded and put onYoutube for later viewing if necessary.)
Here's another lesson from Daniel. Daniel asked the steward to "test your servants for ten days" with vegetables and water and not the kings delicacies to see how they would look and function. Well guess what? Daniel 1:15 states "And at the end of ten days their features appeared better and fatter in flesh than all the young men who ate the portion of the king’s delicacies." In the same manner, after ten Sundays in a row of church with no interruptions, you are guaranteed to be in better shape spiritually than you ever were before!!
So, what do you say? Can we do this? I say, absolutely! And I also say, "we must!" As you already know the world is not getting any better, and the Lord is not relenting in His quest to bring us closer to Him. He will not relent! It would do us well to co-operate with Him.
Thank the Lord for nearly 130 people in church and Livestream this past Sunday. Thank the Lord for two Kids Ministry classes at second service. Thank the Lord for the gifts of the Holy Spirit in our midst. Thank the Lord for beautiful times of worship and prayer around the altar. Thank the Lord for the recent new faces and salvations. As the church sign out front says, "God Is Moving At New Life!"
See YOU at New Life! If necessary, Livestreams are found on Facebook: New Life Haverhill. Recorded services can be found on YouTube.com: New Life Haverhill. To God be all glory!! Can I get an AMEN?!

"I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go into the house of the Lord.' Our feet have been standing Within your gates, O Jerusalem!"
Calling all believers to join us this Sunday, October 3 at New Life Christian Assembly of God for a grand time of worship, prayer, preaching, and altar time!
Psalm 122 clearly states that "I was glad when they said, 'let's go to the house of the Lord'!
Are you "glad" as well? Are you anticipating a sovereign move of the Lord in our midst? Are you willing to do whatever it takes to get into the House of the Lord this Sunday?
Many of us have been "standing within your gates", meaning we have been in the proper position to praise and serve the Lord but now we long for and realize it is high time to make our way back into the House of the Lord!! It's time to move our position "from the city" and from the "courtyard" to the inner sanctum of the temple...for us, that is in the sanctuary of our place of fellowship.
Looking forward to seeing many of you this Sunday! With David, I humbly say, "Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together" Psalm 34:3.

Summer - August 7, 2021!
/Greetings New Life!
(church email 8/7/21)
Trusting this summer is going well for you! And, oh...how time is passing so quickly! The first week of August is here, and some are already thinking of "back to school" issues, whether grammar school, high school, or college. Yes, the clock is certainly ticking!
Just a quick word to all to keep Jesus in the mix of all that is happening around us these days. I have personally been spending time in the Psalms this summer and so often I read about the greatness of God in creation, in the heavens, and in the whole earth. It helps me to realize how big and strong and powerful our God really is. In case you may have forgotten or have lost focus, our God is bigger than all of our problems combined! I know it is sometimes difficult to focus on His greatness in the midst of a personal trial but by His grace when we pull back and take a deep breath and meditate on who He is our issues although great are reduced in comparison to His greatness and power. I encourage you today to take time to look upward where Jesus is and simply pause to reflect upon the fact you are His child and that He is a benevolent Father who loves and cares and provides for each of us in His own unique way.
The other day I glanced through some old emails I had written to Pamela while ministering in the great country of Nigeria in 2002. In one letter I wrote that at a church service I had just attended a couple dedicated their new baby and the baby's name was "Rose Sharon". I thought of the name and realized that in the Song of Solomon, the bride refers to herself as the "Rose of Sharon" as well as the "Lily of the Valley". The bridegroom quickly concurs. My comment to Pamela was, "I just didn't know how deep the valley could be till now". I was referring to the issues of life, the stresses, hardships, anxieties, and uncertainties we all face. But like the "rose" and like the "lily" we know that our God is there with us in the midst of our struggles and problems. Jesus is in "Sharon" with us. He is in "the valley" with us, rescuing us, helping us, cleaning us up, making us new and useful. He reaches down and He reaches out to us regardless of where we find ourselves. He is faithful. He never fails.
Hope to see many of you this Sunday as we continue in our preaching/teaching through the book of 1 John. If you can not attend, please join us on Livestream at 10:45. Also, there is always the Tuesday/Thursday Livestream Talks each week at 12; the Noon Zoom each Wednesday with Bill Unger; and the Wednesday Night in the Word Bible Study each Wednesday at 7. Thank you to the many good souls that join us each week. The invite is always there for all the rest to join in!
Remember to keep New Life in your prayers: our mission's emphasis, our newly functioning Kids' Ministries, our outreaches to the community, our finances, and our overall efforts to keep in step with the Lord during these continuing unique days. God is able!!

/Sometimes we mistake the Truth based on God’s Word as a self serving personal attack and license to rebel instead of an opportunity to face some harsh realities about ourselves and repent for damage we’ve done to others. Throughout Matthew 23 Jesus called Pharisees “hypocrites” and “snakes” in the attempt to wake them up from their deadened spiritual condition, and to let everyone else know to beware of them. Gladly, at least three Pharisees, Nicodemis and Joseph, and later on Paul, took the Truth personally in a positive and constructive way and repented and turned their lives over to Jesus.
And it’s not too late for us! Jesus is still knocking on our hearts, calling us to repentance, to acceptance of His love and correction, and to new and deeper life in Him. Sometimes it hurts, but be encouraged today, Jesus is waiting for your response to the Truth of His Word.

/BULLIES are a strange lot. Typically when counseling a couple and the man is a bully, the familiar antics toward his wife or girlfriend eventually manifest. A wise counselor then would step in to say THAT will not happen here. The bully is always shocked when someone tells him “no”. It’s the nature of the bully to be loud, aggressive and egotistical. They will keep going till someone says STOP. Then in their cowardice, they turn everything around and put the blame on the innocent victim, making it their fault for his insensitivity and false bravado and venom. The bully then shows his true colors, weak and very cunning and manipulative. He unbelievably and irrationally often makes himself out to be the victim.
Scripture says “Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” Psalm 82:3-4. Christians, stand up to bullIies and protect the weaker of our society. In doing so we are doing Christ’s work on earth the way He did by His constant demonstration of loving, protecting, healing the real victims of His day

/Greetings New Life!
As a New Life brother and I were recently talking, out of the blue, he very insightfully said to me, "I sense a fresh wind blowing at New Life". Upon questioning him, I asked, "what do you mean?" He went on to tell me exactly what I was already experiencing in my spirit. That is, that God is moving in our midst in a new and fresh way. The pandemic and other social and personal issues have caused a stirring in the spiritual realm and some of our brothers and sisters have left us while at the same time numerous other new people have started getting plugged in to our various ministry presentations. I am happy to report that the Holy Spirit is alive and well at New Life Christian Assembly of God!
Two weeks ago we called the church to a week of conscientious prayer and fasting, beseeching the Lord to move mightily in our midst. We specifically asked the Lord to bring in people, new people, familiar people, committed people that have been away due to covid concerns, as we gathered on Resurrection Sunday. Specifically we were asking the Lord to fill up each available seat under the Massachusetts covid seating guidelines, which would be 80 people per Sunday service, for a total of 160 worshippers on that day. Although the breakdown per service wasn't as we expected, the total attendance on Resurrection Sunday was 163 which included everyone...adults, visitors, teens, babies, children, and church staff! Tell me, isn't God good?! And isn't it just like the Lord to take our request and answer it with His own unique stamp of approval on it?!
I must tell you, we loved our Resurrection Sunday Services, as well as the very special Good Friday Service. Thank you to all that participated in the ministry aspects of these services, as well as all that attended either in person and/or via Livestream. Church, you must know the Lord is very pleased with our efforts to honor Him, to re-tell the historical narratives of these crucially important events, and to worship Him so powerfully. In fact He waits for us to do so. We are sensing in our hearts and spirits that we are right where the Lord wants us to be at this time.
Special thanks to the Kids Banner Ministry Team that so beautifully highlighted a part of the sermon at second service. Awesome, awesome, awesome! Below see a clip of that wonderful presentation. And thank you parents and kids that participated in Saturday's Easter Egg Hunt. A wonderful time was had by all.
Please continue praying for miracles to be evident among us: Joanne and Gary Feldman; Sandy Whitney; Stacie Amendola-Johnson (who ministered so effectively with Kids Ministry on Saturday and Sunday); and Lisa Nadeau, who suffered a mild stroke on Sunday during second service and is now recovering in a local hospital. Pray for physical healing for these dear people; and pray also for others in our fellowship that have recently been mentioned in our prayer e-mails. Mark 16:20 tells us, "And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen." May we believe the Lord for the same anointing and same miracles to be evident in our midst today.
One more prayer request, for my 94 year old mom, Margaret Amendola, living in Rye, NY. We arrived here on Monday afternoon to visit for a few days. Today we took mom to an unplanned doctor's visit due to shortness of breath, which we found out was due to a water build up in her lungs. She was prescribed medications. Please pray for her healing and her comfort. Mom remains a major influence and a true matriarch of our family, touching her kids, grandkids and great grandkids (19 of them!!). She often joins us on our various Livestreams, praise God. She is doing better tonight as I type this letter.
Please contact us if we can be of help to you or if you would like a pastoral visit at home. Join us as you are able on our weekday/night Livestreams, and Sunday services in building or Livestream. God is moving among us, do your part to stay plugged in! Believe me, it will be worth it!

Hi New Life!
Greetings in the wonderful Name of Jesus! Just a quick note to say hello and let you know you are loved by Jesus, and by your Pastor! Trusting all is well with you and your loved ones as we continue to work our way through Covid 19 and through the social and political climate we find ourselves in. One thing for sure is that Jesus is STILL on His throne! We are certain He has everything under control.
Mission's Month was wonderful! TY Mission's Committee for the excellent decorations and for putting together a great Mission's Celebration Night. The initial tally of our Faith Promise Pedges received in house last Sunday is in. The amount pledged so far is approximately $16,000 for 2021. That is a pretty good amount considering many members and other regular attendees are in the process of returning their pledges. Remember, we are seeking $20,000 in pledges to continue the support of the thirty-three missionaries we currently support, and an additional $5,000 to add seven more missionaries that have been waiting to hear from back us. We will continue receiving Pledge Cards till the end of the year, although we will accept Pledges whenever they come in throughout the New Year. Please do pray regarding your contribution for 2021. And, last Sundays' special mission's offering to help offset the negative balance we are in this year was $800. Thank you! We will accept additional offerings for this years' mission's budget each Sunday till the end of the year. Please mark your check or offering envelop "Missions".
Livestreams continue to go well! TY to all that sign on to our FB page: New Life Haverhill, and participate in the Sunday Morning Services, the Sunday Evening Prayer Hour, the Tuesday/Thursday Talks, and Wednesday Night In The Word. I do have a question for the Wednesday Night In The Word crew. Unintentionally for the last two or three Bible studies, we have had quite the time of fellowship as most comments were referred to and addressed as we went along in the study. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving was quite the night as we discussed everything related to Thanksgiving dinner and desserts to Paul's discourse on the seven grace gifts!! This week we had some visitors from North Carolina join us (from the church where Pamela and I started our Christian walk many years ago) and several talking points developed that linked our experiences there with our current study in Romans here. My question to the "regulars" on Wednesday Night is, which do you prefer...the camaraderie and fellowshipping along with our study of the Word, or would you prefer a stricter and perhaps more disciplined (on my part!!) study in the Word without interruption, leaving room at the end for discussion and fellowship? If you would, please respond via this email address. Responses will remain confidential. I realize there may be a cross section of responses but I would appreciate your feedback.
Tuesday/Thursday Talks generate an average of ten to twelve people each time. Pamela usually accompanies me on Tuesday's, and grand-daughter Ella accompanies me on Thursday's. Wednesday Nights generate anywhere from twenty to thirty in attendance. Sunday Night has about twenty to twenty five. By the way, our various Livestreams are drawing people from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Puerto Rico and Oregon! One thing we would ask is that when you sign on to any of our Livestreams that you hit your "share" button, thus allowing your friends on your page to be exposed to the teachings and fellowship. This way we will potentially reach many more people.
We are happy to announce that in addition to the above Livestreams, we are adding a weekly ZOOM Meeting to the schedule. Each Wednesday, starting next week, December 9, from noon to twelve thirty, Rev Bill Unger will be hosting a teaching series entitled, "The Cost Of Discipleship" a study in Christian ethics. He will be using Dietrich Bonhoeffer's well known book "The Cost Of Discipleship" as a guide. That book can easily be purchased on Amazon if interested (not mandatory for the study, but helpful). Please spread the word about this exciting new venture. Hope to see many of you there!
Well, this "quick note" to say hello became quite lengthy didn't it!! Kinda like a "short sermon" that becomes a three part series!! TY so much for taking the time to read this. Please contact us if we can be of any help. Please respond to my earlier questions.
Getting ready for Christmas!

Solemn Assembly, June 18, 2020
/Dear New Life Family,
Last Saturday in Haverhill, 1500 people from all walks of life gathered to march and hold a rally to end racism in Haverhill and throughout America. By all accounts it was an awesome event in which local high school students shared their passion and hearts for the needed change. Lots of emotion was evident and passionate speeches were given. Local police enforcement has applauded the students for the peaceful and well put together event.
This Thursday, June 18, the greater Christian community of Haverhill is calling our troops together to pray and seek the face of God for our city and nation. We will be praying outside in the New Life parking lot from 7-8pm. Pastors, elders, leaders, and all congregants have been invited. In case of rain we will move inside.
Our question is, if the community at large can motivate 1500 people for a non Christian related event, can we Christians also gather in force to rally and pray together? How many people should we expect that night? Would you come? Would you pray with other Christians for one hour this week in our parking lot?
Children and teens are encouraged to participate. Christians from all local Christian churches in Haverhill are welcome to participate. This event is sponsored by Common Ground Ministries. The prayer time will be facilitated by Rev David Braxton, from the River Church, Haverhill.
Here is our official invitation:
ANNOUNCEMENT
"Solemn Assembly" of all local Christian pastors, leaders and churches in the greater Haverhill community to pray for our City and our Nation. Sponsored by Common Ground, the gathering will be at the New Life Christian Assembly of God parking lot, 966 Main St, Haverhill, Thursday, June 18 at 7pm. Parking will be in the upper lot and we will proceed to lower lot near side entrance to pray. In case of rain we will enter the sanctuary. Please bring a mask.
Trusting we will see YOU during our time of prayer this Thursday. Please spread the word, and invite a friend or a family member. Additionally, we are calling for New Life to consecrate the entire day of Thursday, June 18 as a day of prayer and fasting. Please fast as you are able throughout the day. And please join us in this much needed discipline and opportunity to join hearts with other Christians.
See YOU then!
All For Jesus,
Pastor Rick and Pamela

Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land
into the house of the Lord your God,
And cry out to the Lord.”
